Latinised Hymns

Let us, with a gladsome mind

Let us, with a gladsome mind,
Praise the Lord, for he is kind:
For his mercies aye endure,
Ever faithful, ever sure.

Let us blaze his name abroad,
For of gods he is the God:

He with all-commanding might
Filled the new-made world with light:

He the golden-tressed sun
Caused all day his course to run:

And the horned moon by night
'Mid her spangled sisters bright:

All things living he doth feed,
His full hand supplies their need:
For his mercies

J. Milton (Ps 136)

Laeta mens benevolum
laudet nostra Dominum.
Cuius est perpetua
cum fide clementia.

Nomen publicabimus,
quod deorum est Deus.

Eius est imperio
orbe fusa lux novo.

Aureo soli suam
per diem dedit viam;

neque nocturnam minus
lunae cum sororibus.

Omne sentiens alit:
nempe manus sufficit.
Cuius est perpetua
