Latinised Hymns

The heaven of heavens cannot contain

The heaven of heavens cannot contain
The universal Lord;
Yet he in humble hearts will deign
To dwell and be adored.

Where'er ascends the sacrifice
Of fervent praise and prayer,
Or in the earth or in the skies,
The heaven of God is there.

His presence there is spread abroad
Through realms, through worlds unknown;
Who seeks the mercies of his God
Is ever near his throne.

W. Drennan

Totius mundi Rex nequit
a caelo comprimi,
submissa corda sed sinit
colentem se coli.

Ex corde sacrificia,
laudes cum precibus,
qua surgant,infra seu supra,
Divina ibi est domus.

Praeter scientiam dedit
praesentem se Deus;
cuius qui veniam petit
est ei proximus.
